Manual Handling Training ensures your workforce meets the standard. Injury Prevention Training ensures they exceed it.

Back in Action’s award‑winning and innovative Injury Prevention Training (IPT) is a physiotherapy-led, bespoke programme designed to proactively reduce workplace musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries, improve safety, and enhance workforce wellbeing.

Developed and delivered by ACPOHE-registered occupational health physiotherapists, IPT goes beyond traditional manual handling training by embedding practical, role-specific learning directly into the working environment. Rather than relying on generic or classroom-based approaches, the programme is tailored to individual roles, tasks, and operational pressures, ensuring relevance, engagement, and sustained behavioural change.

Back in Action proudly won the inaugural British Safety Council Innovation in Health Award, in collaboration with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) in June 2026 for our groundbreaking Injury Prevention Programme, in partnership with Veolia.

At its core, IPT focuses on equipping employees with the knowledge, confidence, and practical techniques to work safely within their own physical capability. Training is delivered “in real time” as employees perform their normal duties, enabling immediate application of safer movement patterns, posture, and handling techniques under real working conditions. IPT ensures compliance aligned to conventional MHT.

The programme takes a proactive, prevention-first approach by addressing the root causes of workplace injury rather than reacting after issues arise. By combining musculoskeletal screening, task analysis, and personalised technique adaptation, IPT supports both injury prevention and effective self-management of existing conditions through empowering workforces while maintaining operational performance.
