Matt founded Sano Physiotherapy Ltd in October 2010, setting up the companies first clinic (in a room in a gym) in his hometown of Pudsey. Having worked clinically at Sano until 2018, Matt relinquished his clinical duties following Private Equity investment in the business and, as Group Managing Director, works closely with the Senior Management Team to ensure Sano achieves its goals and objectives and delivers exceptional outcomes for all customers and stakeholders. He leads on new business development and mergers and acquisitions within the Sano group and is passionate about staff development and progression throughout the organisation.
Outside of work I am a family man and enjoy nothing more than spending time with my 2 sporty young children and my (very understanding) wife. I enjoy keeping fit, am a passionate Aston Villa fan and a coach for several junior sports teams. On a weekend, you will more than likely find me standing on a pitch side somewhere!
Alex graduated from Kings College London in 1996 with a BSc(Hons) in physiotherapy. Shortly after graduating, Alex worked for 5 years in Canada and then the USA where she was first introduced to Industrial Rehabilitation. In 2001, she returned to the UK and co-founded Back in Action UK. She was the Managing Director of Back in Action UK from 2014 right up until its acquisition by The Sano Group in 2023. She is now the Head of Customer Success for the Sano Group and is currently the Co-Vice Chair for the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Occupational Health and Ergonomics (ACPOHE) having been on the committee for the last 4 years.
Outside of work, I can be found on the football side-lines embarrassing my teenage son, Face Timing my daughter who is away at university to catch up on the latest student antics, cooking Bridget Jones type meals for long-suffering friends and family, pretending to help my husband in the garden, snoozing off in Pilates, or running with our much-loved family dog.
Away from Sano, I spend much of my time with my family and a new Golden Retriever, Biffy. I enjoy travelling, socialising, cooking, exercising and particularly running, having recently completed a number of half marathons including the Great North Run last year. Away from this, you’ll find me watching and supporting Wakefield Trinity (Rugby League), Yorkshire C.C.C. (Cricket) or Chesterfield FC (Football).
Willem is originally from South Africa where he attended university and started his professional career in an Auditing firm. Willem and his wife moved to the UK in 2009. He first started working in the private Physiotherapy sector in 2010 and joined the Sano team in 2018. He now oversees all financial aspects in the Sano Group.
On a more personal note, I am married and the father of 2 young twin boys. At weekends I enjoy just about any outdoor activity (following too much screen time during the week). My hobbies include walking, photography, rowing, camping and of course (typical South African) nothing is better than a Braai (BBQ) with family and friends.
Alice joined Sano in 2018 as part of a business acquisition. She initially worked as a Senior Physiotherapist before progressing into a Clinical Operations post and has been in her current role as Occupational Health Service Lead since January 2023. Alice has worked within the Occupational Physiotherapy space for the past 10 years and enjoys working with multiple stake holders to deliver quality Occupational Physiotherapy services to Back in Action customers.
Outside of work, there’s nothing better than being a mum to my little girl. I’m a sociable person and cherish time with friends and family. I love all things food, drink, and travel and often in my free time (not that there’s too much), you’ll find me up hiking in the hills somewhere, trying not to get lost!
Anamaria joined Sano Physiotherapy in 2021 as a Junior. By the end of 2022, she was promoted to Senior, and in 2024, she successfully joined the Management team. She graduated in Romania, where she gained diverse and valuable experience in both the hospital and sports sectors. Additionally, Anamaria works as an occupational physiotherapist for our team, Back in Action.
Outside of work, I’m always pushing myself beyond my comfort zone. Learning new things is something I find enjoyable, as well as exploring nature!
Beth joined Sano in January 2023 after working as an Operations Manager in the Leisure Industry. She currently oversees the in-clinic team and works within the occupational health and FCP teams in Yorkshire as the Regional Operations Manager.
I have a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science and a MSc in Strength and Conditioning. I am also a mad Liverpool fan who has also played football both at a professional and semi-professional level.
Jack first qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2017 from Coventry University, spending 4 years at the Royal Wolverhampton NHS trust. Here, he gained valuable experience in musculoskeletal and orthopaedic Physiotherapy, and also spent time as Deputy Critical Care Lead for Physiotherapy services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
I joined Sano in June 2021 as Clinical Operations Manager for the West Midlands, and now oversee our First Contact Practitioner services across the North West of England. Outside of work, you can find me either following Wolves up and down the country, on the golf course, or at a local pub quiz.
Kerry joined Sano in February 2024 as our Back in Action Operations Manager, having previously worked with Back in Action UK Ltd for 12 years in Operations and Account Management roles. She is responsible for overseeing our multisite Occupational Physiotherapy service from an efficiency and quality perspective, helping to deliver end-to-end processes in which client care is the priority. Kerry is also responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the Back in Action Customer service team.
I am a sun-loving, fair-weather outdoorsman, who is often found in the Cumbrian mountains either in a pair of muddy walking boots or on a muddy gravel bike. I love to travel and be outdoors, and if the British weather allowed, I would happily dine alfresco every day of the year. When I’m not outside, I can be found studying Spanish and dancing to Spanish lyrics as a keen Latin and ballroom dancer.
