How does it work?
Manual Therapy is a specialised form of physical therapy delivered with hands rather than a device or machine. It involves skilled, hands-on techniques to mobilise joints, manipulate soft tissue and improve musculoskeletal function. The goal is to reduce pain, increase range of motion, enhance circulation, and promote overall healing. Manual therapy encompasses a variety of techniques, each tailored to address specific issues.
- Joint Mobilisation and Manipulation – This involves moving the joints in specific ways to improve movement and alleviate pain.
- Soft Tissue Techniques – This technique targets the muscles, ligaments, and fascia by using massage and myofascial release.
- Muscle Energy Techniques (METs) – This approach involves the patient actively using their muscles apart from a precise position, in a specific direction, and against a counterforce applied by the physiotherapist.
