Having been referred to Sano I was apprehensive as I've never had Physiotherapy before. Max could not have made me feel any more relaxed. Friendly, processional and extremally knowledgeable, he very quickly highlighted the area of concern and helped me work on this. He emailed exercises which...

I have had 4 sessions with Elliot with excellent results. Elliot was compassionate, engaging and made me feel at ease immediately as I initially hobbled in. I had confidence in what I was being told regarding my initial analysis and I’m so relieved not to be in such terrible pain anymore. Thank...

Sarah McGrail

Role: Physiotherapist

Qualification: Grad Dip Phys MCSP

My physiotherapy career started off, learning my trade, in the NHS for my first 7 years after graduating. Then I moved into private practice and sports physiotherapy. I have worked with sports from grass roots level through to high profile international athletes. I was invited to be a member of the select Physiotherapy committee of the British Olympic Association, which I did for over 15 years. I travelled extensively, accompanying teams to warm weather training camps, international competitions, Youth, Commonwealth and Olympic games.
Alongside my experience with sporting injuries, my area of specific interest over the latter 15 years, is in the treatment of migraine headaches and sorting out complex neck and spinal problems.
Outside of work, my other interests include pottering in my allotment, competitive flower arranging and I’m an enthusiastic member of the village Gin Club.

“Great experience at Sano, York today. The appointments clerk was super helpful fitting me in, and Sarah sorted out my problem straight away. I limped into their office & walked out pain free & 3 inches taller.”

Role: Clinical Support Lead

Qualification: BSc Physiotherapy

I have been with Sano Physiotherapy for over 8 years. I initially worked within the NHS in the outpatient department, with a keen focus on chronic pain. I started working for Sano part time, but from this got a full time position as a junior physiotherapist, since this I have progressed and developed my skills and now, as well as maintaining a busy York clinic, I clinically review the majority of the Yorkshire physio staff. Assisting them with training, and developing them to be the best they can be!

“Elliott has been brilliant. My pain has been very much reduced in just a few sessions with him. He always listens to any concerns and allows time to ask questions. Very professional service and can’t thank him enough for his help in getting me back to normal.”

Role: Physiotherapist

Qualification: BSc Sports Science

I moved from Ireland to England in the early 80’s to complete a degree in sports science and work abroad as a tennis coach/health club manager. I trained as a physiotherapist at Coventry university in the late 80’s then worked for the NHS as well as in corporate health and fitness before joining Highthorn Physiotherapy Clinic Ltd as a senior physiotherapist/fitness instructor and laterally director. We sold our clinic to Sano physiotherapy in 2021 and I have been working part time as a subcontractor for them since then.

Semi-retirement has afforded me the opportunity to play more golf and increase the mileage on my road bike. I have also managed to complete the RHS level 2 course thereby expanding my knowledge of all things related to gardening and veg production.

Really great experience – super friendly and helpful. I felt like I was really listened to and had all my issues addressed within the session, can’t recommend enough!
