Close Tommy Kemp Role: Regional Manager Qualification: BSc Physiotherapy

About

Tommy started working within the NHS in 2008 as a physiotherapy assistant in-patient and outpatient based in a gym. From there he was seconded and completed his degree in physiotherapy in 2015.

After some time as a rotational physiotherapist in the NHS, Tommy has since been based within the private sector treating a wide variety of sports injuries and chronic pain conditions with a keen focus on holistic centred care and educating patients.

Tommy uses a range of manual therapy techniques including joint mobilisation, Muligan techniques, soft tissue release and muscle energy techniques, coupled with a comprehensive home exercise and self-management plan to optimise patient’s functionality.

Tommy is an ex-footballer and in his spare time you will now find him on the golf course!

Close Josh Makinson Role: Senior Physiotherapist Qualification: MSc Physiotherapy

Josh has 10 years of experience working within various sectors including private clinics, occupational health and elite sports, currently contracting with the GB Boxing squad. He now treats a variety of clientele ranging from the sedentary to elite athletes.

Looking to progress in his chosen field Josh obtained an MSc in Physiotherapy in 2013. His clinical training as a physiotherapist coupled with his previous experience in rehabilitation, has resulted in treatment approaches designed to maximally restore function to his patients whilst underpinning the cause and overall injury prevention.

Josh combines techniques such as joint mobilisation, soft tissue release, spinal manipulations and muscle energy techniques to enable patient to reach their optimal potential. He is keen to educate his patients on self-management techniques and for them to understand the cause and therefore prevention of the problem.

In his spare time you can normally find Josh on the bike or socialising.

About

Chris graduated from the University of Nottingham where he had a variety of experiences with placements. Highlights included work at the Pulvertaft Hand Centre at Royal Derby Hospital where he worked with hand specialist physiotherapist. Chris also spent two placements at the University of Nottingham’s Sports Injuries Clinic where he spent time treating and rehabilitating high level athletes, making use of the wide variety of treatment options including hydrotherapy which was a rare opportunity.

Chris is empathetic and approachable and building good rapport with his patients. Chris combines manual therapy, such as joint mobilisations and soft tissue techniques with exercises and education. Providing his patients with clear and manageable self-management programs so they can receive long term benefits and prevent re-occurrences of their injuries.

Chris has a large interest in sporting injuries having played a wide variety of different sports at varying levels, he currently has time to play for his local church football team.

Looking forward, Chris is looking to develop his skills gained from university and learn new skills to develop the experience he needs so that he can become a clinical educator where he will facilitate physiotherapy students in there learning. Eventually, he hopes to become a lecturer so that he can use his experience and knowledge to educate students about Msk physiotherapy and private practice.

With over 25 years’ experience in musculoskeletal and sports injuries, Owen has worked with both professional athletes throughout the years; Nottingham Panthers, British Athletics and National Provincial rugby whilst living in New Zealand to name a few.

Owen has extensive experience in spinal manipulation and manual therapy combining his knowledge in rehabilitation to achieve the best results for his patient.

Owen is well known in Nottingham, founding PhysioDirect in 1999, which grew from strength to strength, working alongside many occupational health, insurance providers and consultants throughout the East Midlands.

Owen is now semi-retired and now enjoys golfing and cycling, though still plays an active role in developing our junior physiotherapists and is available for treatment sessions Mondays to Thursdays.

Ever since she graduated in 2013 with honours from a four-year bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy in Greece, Elizabeth has always been occupied in the field of rehabilitation. Enriching her knowledge and experience Elizabeth has worked with a wide range of disorders on adult and young population, and has focused her scope of practise to musculoskeletal conditions.

Always looking to maximise the results of her practise, she has completed various courses over treating techniques, which she has successfully been using. She has an excellent knowledge on acupuncture, shockwave therapy, exercise prescription as well as joint mobilisations and soft tissue techniques.

As a therapist she’s keen to actively engage her patients in their rehabilitation, ensuring the understanding of their pathology and prescribing them individual home-based exercises.

She is also employed in the NHS as a physiotherapist in Nottingham’s cardiac rehabilitation team, a position that has given a 360 degree view of rehabilitation that expands into her treatments.

In her free time she enjoys board games, yoga and rambling over peak district.

Becky qualified as a physiotherapist from Brunel University in 2003. Post gradation she worked in the NHS rotating across all fields of physiotherapy including musculoskeletal outpatients and orthopaedics. In 2007 she studied full time at Nottingham University and gained an MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine.

She has been working in the private sector since 2010 and specialises in the treatment of all musculoskeletal problems including spinal and peripheral joint pain. She uses a variety of manual therapy in her treatments including joint mobilisations, soft tissue release, acupuncture and exercise prescription.

In her spare time, she is mostly ferrying her daughter around to her various activities. However she does try to fit in some fitness classes herself and she enjoys singing in her local community choir.

This practice is located in close proximity to Arnold, Sherwood, Gedling and Mapperley. Located on the eastern side of Nottingham this state of the art facility is the biggest clinic within the Sano Physiotherapy portfolio. There are six treatment rooms and a comfortable reception area while you wait to be seen by the physiotherapist. There is plenty of off street parking to the front of the building where parking bays are clearly marked out.

The clinic is located on the corner of Gedling Road just before it turns into Arno Vale Road. Sano Physiotherapy is the left hand shop in a row of three. Access is either via Mapperley Top and by turning onto Gedling Road, or via Mansfield Road (A60) and onto Thackerey’s Lane (The Vale pub will be visible as you turn right) and continue onto Arno Vale Road. Once you see the Arrow pub on your right hand side you are nearly there.
